This page, you’ll find, is probably going to be your most favorite ever. At least, I hope. Hey, I can dream, right?
Listed below is an accumulation of the Photoshop tutorials I’ve managed to complete while engaging in the land of Second Life photograph touch-ups. I figure, if there’s something I don’t know how to do — then there’s likely someone else who doesn’t know how to do it. And believe me, there’s PLENTY I don’t know how to do. So when I figure something out… I want to share. This is my way of doing that.
Don’t worry. I’ll add more as I make them. Hopefully, someone, somewhere will find these useful! Enjoy.

Combining Depth Snapshots With Color Snapshots Tutorial

Whew! I finished this video about 30 seconds before I started sneezing uncontrollably, so… forgive me if I sound a little congested! Why do I keep doing these when I’m sick I wonder? Huh. Anyway!
I came to the realization this morning that I’ve been promising this tutorial for a while, and I suck, my apologies for not getting it out here sooner.
This video actually sucks in comparison to my other tutorial videos (quality wise, not intellect wise :P), because for some reason my computer was going all hokey this morning and not letting me produce the video as a flash file… so here it is as a Quicktime video with shitty quality. But… que sera sera. At least it will explain how to combine the shots! :P
Hope you guys find this a little useful. :) Any questions, feel free to IM me!
Check out the tutorial video here!
PS: It’s going to be about 45 minutes before the video is actually live… it’s a 200mb file (damn MOV files) and still uploading while I run to work! <3

Quick and Dirty Border Tutorial
Several people have asked me over the last day how to make borders around images… so I did a really quick tutorial on how I do it. :) Hope this helps a little!
*Note: Also, keep in mind that the background layer doesn’t have to be a solid color… this is what will be your border, so do anything you want to it… gradients, many colors, paint on it, add some texture… go crazy. Make the borders you want!
PS: SORRY! I’m a little sick. So I sound horrible. But… que sera sera. :P

Quick and Dirty Drop Shadows

Here is my latest installment: a quick and dirty drop shadow technique to use and master for your enjoyment.
This will show you a very, very simple and basic technique on how to create a drop shadow from a green screen snapshot. Hopefully someone finds this useful!!!

Avimator 101

The next tutorial in my ever-growing list of tutorials… This one will teach you how to use Avimator to make custom poses for your avatar. Keep in mind I said poses… not animations. :P
It’s about 15 minutes long and around 45mbs, so it might take a little while to download depending on your connection speed… but it goes over the basics of using Avimator to make poses for Second Life. Forgive me for being a little flustered in it… lots of stuff going on tonight. :P If you’re confused or have questions, feel free to Flickr mail me or IM me or email me at rykerbeck@gmail.com. I’ll do my best to help you out, if I can.
Hope you guys enjoy! :) <3

Skin Smoothing 101 (Video)
So I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how I get such even skin tones on some of my pictures. Here is my latest tutorial describing the technique that I use. :) Be warned though… the audio is LOUD!!!
You can watch the tutorial here.
It’s quick, dirty, and pretty to the point (and I didn’t really do as much explaining or execute as much detail as I would’ve liked to… bit of a time crunch :P)… but hopefully it’ll answer some questions! Again, as with my last tutorial, I by NO MEANS claim to be an expert in any of this stuff… I am simply passing on the techniques that I use in the hopes that they may be useful to someone else who is just starting out. Anyone else is welcome to share their views in the comments if they like!!! I’m always up for constructive criticism, and if there’s a better way to do these things, I would LOVE to know them! :)
Also, I would like to note that this particular technique does wonders for both Second Life snapshots as well as real life photography! :)

Basic Alpha Layer and Tattoo Creation (Video)
For Codie Redgrave, and anyone who doesn’t know how the alpha transparency layer in Photoshop works. :) Thanks to Robin Wood and Chip Midnight for the Female Topography templates used, which you can download here and here.
I’m sorry, it’s a little sloppy, and it’s pretty quick and dirty, and I didn’t get into how to make things opaque/semi-transparent, and I probably could’ve explained things a little better… but hopefully this will, at the very least, give you the quick gist of how to use the layer. :)
So you can view the tutorial here!! It’s a pretty big file, so it might take a few seconds to load. :) If you find it at all useful, I’m very glad, and anyone that can explain this better than I can, by all means hop in here (because I by no means claim to be a pro at this kind of thing!)!!! hahahaha <3!!! ~~~
PS: I’m not sure WHY, but the “tabs” that I refer to in the tutorial (the Channels tab for example) do not show up in the video. I promise you, they’ll be there when you open Photoshop. :P Sorry!

Basic Green Screen Removal (Video)
This is my quick and dirty technique on how to remove a green screen from a photo in Second Life.
Like I say in the video, I’m just positive there are other ways to do this (for example, if you just so happened to be wearing this particular color green in any photo you take, this technique will also remove THAT… so it may not be the BEST way, but I can’t imagine how often anyone may be wearing this color green!); if you have a better way, please share! And, as I say in ALL of my tutorials, I in no way claim to be an expert in these things… I am simply trying to pass on the techniques I use! :)
Watch the tutorial here! And forgive the giant truck noise in the background… it’s garbage day. :P

Green Screen Removal, Take 2 (Video)
Okay, so… as I mentioned in the picture of my new dress, there were some “unforeseen” complications with my traditional green screen removal. Obviously… it didn’t work terribly well with the semi transparent prims!!! So, I had to come up with another way to do it in order to remove all of the green without hacking the semi transparent skirt to pieces with the magic wand.
View the second installment of “how to remove a green screen” here.
Boy, I wonder how many more methods there are!!! *wee!* Hopefully this will help everyone out that has a similar problem with taking shots on a green screen while wearing an outfit with semi-transparent attachments.
