Eden on St. Patrick’s Day

I know you’ve all been dying to know where I’ve been. :P
I am writing this note to introduce you to the much anticipated, long-time coming first skin — Eden. A very fitting name for Genesis (SLURL) don’t you think? ;)
Eden was an “idea in progress” for around two years. When I first began playing SL, the very first thing I wanted to do was create a skin. But naturally… I didn’t know the first thing, I had no idea what I would be doing, and I didn’t even know where to start. Over time, I was able to observe and learn from other skin creators such as Eloh Eliot, whose templates have been released far and wide. While Eden is not based entirely on Eloh’s template (though I will admit to swiping the teeth from it :P), without her PSDs, I never would have understood the mechanics of skin making. And it is with her generosity that so many budding skin designers have begun to work their craft.
The creation of Eden has been covered far and wide on both Plurk and Flickr. Feel free to view the (many, many, omg many) images I’ve uploaded over the course of Eden’s creation on my Flickr page.
In celebration of one of my favorite holidays (weeee for green beer!), I thought it only fitting to release Eden on St. Patrick’s Day. Zion is closed at the moment, but will open again at 5:00 PM SLT sharp on March 17, 2009 for the inaugural release of the skin, as well as a Genesis St. Patrick’s Day hunt being held only at my main store (SLURL). The hunt will include a special St. Patrick’s Day version of the Eden skin, as well as 5 other goodies to pick up. Click the picture below for details!
I’d like to thank everyone that’s encouraged me these last few weeks with the skin. Everyone on Plurk who has offered me their feedback. My beta testers and anyone that sent me a notecard with suggestions and comments. CodeBastard Redgrave of Mechanized Life for her AMAZING freckle template, without which, Eden’s freckles would simply not be what they are (you are one talented woman, and I love you dearly <3). You guys rock, and you helped make Eden what she is. And I am so grateful to all of you.

It’s Halloween at ..:: Genesis ::..
I’ve been toiling away for the last week or so making lovely little Halloween themed pieces, and even made a cute little Halloween ring for both men and women. Not to mention T-SHIRTS… omg. Did I mention the t-shirts? See them for yourself (SLURL)!
Three different shirts, two colors each with captions such as ‘Your Worst Nightmare’, ‘Bad Girls Like Candy Too’, and ‘Death Becomes Her.’ I think the Bad Girls one is my favorite… but that’s just me. :P My male friends say the black shirts are totally wearable, but considering there’s still boobie shading on there any way you slice it… meh! You metrosexual guys could rock them, eh? ;) Each shirt set is set at $75L a piece.
Now, on to the jewelry! (SLURL)
We have the Trick-or-Treat Set, listed at $100L, that includes a choker and two color variations of bangles for both the right and left wrists. And to match the Trick-or-Treat set, we have five (count ‘em!), FIVE pairs of earrings to match (lovingly titled the “Haunted Charms” earrings), each sold individually for $50L a piece (click for larger image):
And last but certainly not least, we have my first sculpted ring EVAR… the Spooktacular Ring, fitted for both men and women, and scripted for gold AND silver texture change by touch menu, listed at $50L. And of course… the freebie dish o’ Halloween sweet corn. :)

Ryker’s Holiday Shopping Guide
We’re down to the wire, boys and girls! Do you know where your Christmas presents are?
I know shopping can be hard in Second Life, so I’ve decided to take the route my good friend Nexeus Fatale has taken, and make my own little Holiday Shopping guide for the masses. Maybe you’ll want my opinion, maybe you won’t… but I’m gonna give it to you anyway!
Now, I have to say that most of my friends are either the easiest ones to shop for, or the hardest. There really is no in-between. Artists, builders, creators, designers… we thrive on our creativity and sometimes that can be hard to encompass into a Christmas gift, know what I mean? So instead of going by the old addage, “This is what you should get for THIS type, this is what you should get for THIS type”… I think I will simply go down an eclectic list of a few of my favorite gadgets that I think would make excellent, last minute gifts for that special someone.

Again with the modeling and photography! You’d really need to read the description on this one, but… it rocks. And if you’re not using it, you can always change the background to a stylish drop of Paris at night… and it will make excellent ambiance for your studio or home.

This has to be one of my most favorite, addiction, incredibly useful gadgets of all time… if for no other reason than being able to know exactly who is within 96 sq m of me at any given time. This incredible, INCREDIBLE little tool also includes a teleport history, favorite locations storage (for up to 45 locations!), flight assistance, landmark management, facial emote controls, and a TON more. I couldn’t even sit here and describe to you just how freaking cool this tool is. You really should get it, for yourself and a friend.

So, rather than go through the 150+ blogs I subscribe to piece by piece (which I’m STILL not caught up with after my week-long trip… omg), I figure a link to someone that’s already DONE that would be a good idea. Don’t you think? Get the word out faster, I always say. Plus, everyone loves free publicity. Not that Massively needs it! Those guys rock it out.
Moo Money has done a fantastic (and painstaking) job of scouring blogs and announcements for holiday shopping goodness, and has selflessly taken the liberty to compile a list so fantastic, you’ll be clicking SLURLs for hours. Given that Moo has made one such list already, I think it’s a safe assumption to think that there will be a third, possibly even a fourth or fifth, list made before Christmas/New Years reaches us. That’s a lot of shopping, guys!

Well, the holiday season is upon us, and I am headed home for the first time in SIX YEARS! I am so excited, I can barely contain myself. My little country girl heart is fluttering.
But before I go (and don’t worry! I’ll be back on Sunday!), I just wanted to take a second to say how grateful I am for this little Flickr family I’ve been a part of for the last four months now. You all have become such a huge part of my happiness and energy, and each and every one of you have touched my heart in ways I can’t even begin to describe. My love and kisses go out to you, and I wish you all the best for the holidays.
Now, eat plenty of pumpkin pie, gorge on the turkey (or tofurkey if that’s your preference) and don’t neglect the CRANBERRY SAUCE!
