Description: This 3 session course sequence is an introduction to the 3d modelling application Autodesk Maya for use with Second Life. Designed to get the student up and running quickly, we will explore the relevant features of Maya for creating and exporting sculpt prims. Several hours of homework will be assigned between sessions.

Shiloh & Eden Gen2 Released at EXODI
First, let me explain the name change… As of June 1, Genesis is now named Exodi (SLURL). The reason for this is kind of long and complex and, well… personal. So I’ll just leave it at that. Goodbye Genesis, hello Exodi! All mainstore landmarks should still work, have no fear! I will also be setting up an Exodi-specific update blog so I can continue with my regular blogging/tutorials/etc on RykerBeck.COM. When that is up, I’ll be sure to announce. :)
Next, let me introduce you to the two latest additions to the Exodi main store… Shiloh and Eden Gen2.
Both the Shiloh and Eden’s bodies (click the photo below for a larger view) have been a labor of love over the last month and a bit. I tried to make them much smoother and more natural than were the bodies on my last release, Candace.
For now, both skins feature 8 makeups per skin tone. Additional makeups will be released in 8-makeup lines as I’ve been doing with Candace (I think it’s just easier that way LOL!). I’ve got some GREAT makeup ideas in the works, so don’t miss out! For now, you can check out the makeups available on each line right now by clicking the images below (as you can see, Shiloh comes in 5 skin tones, Eden Gen2 in 4, both skins feature dark and light brow options):
I am really excited about everything I’ve been learning since becoming a skin creator, and I hope you’ve been enjoying it with me! All of my Plurk and Flickr friends that have given me feedback, all of the bloggers that have given me their honest input, all of you are invaluable to me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so open and contributing to the development and my learning as much as you possibly can. You guys rock!
Along with the Shiloh and Eden Gen2 skins releases, there have also been 3 shapes (made specifically for the Eden, Shiloh and Candace skin lines) released at Exodi named Leila, Callie, and Danali. All shapes will be sold mod/copy and with complete style cards. I really look forward to making more shapes as further skin lines develop at Exodi. Shape creation is something I’ve always wanted to play with, and this definitely gives me the opportunity to dabble!
Another new release to go along with the new skins are the Vetro eyes, which you can see below:

At the Loco Pocos landing point, click the pumpkin to teleport to the hunt location. Grab a candy bag ( for human) and then touch the doors and a trick or treat menu pops open. Click on trick or treat and you’ll either get a candy or the owner sends you away.
Keep clicking the doors until you collected enough candies and you’ll get a rusty key. Be warned! It may take a while… you may get the key on your very first click… you may get it after an hour of searching. It’s all random! But do not despair! The prize … is WELL worth it in deed!

Genesis @ the Jewelry Expo
Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve blogged, eh? I suck, I know! >.< I promise I’ll spend today catching up on blogging. *cringes at all the writing she’ll be doing today*…
First, I want this post to be about the incredibly awesome Jewelry Exposition 2008 (SLURL) that the lovely and talented Miriel Enfield has organized for all us jewelers in Second Life (TM). A treasure hunt, charity auction, 75 different jewelers… you name it. There’s more bling here than a Puff Daddy concert. Fo’ sho’.
For the better part of the last week and a half, I have been (as my friend Kimberly would say), “burning the midnight oil,” making tons of new things for the exposition. Here are a few things you will find (click the photos for larger pictures):
The Kimberly Mother’s Ring is dedicated to my good friend, Kimberly Mirabeau. It is fully menu driven, with gold and silver texture options obviously, but that’s not all! The ring features five potential birthstones, each of which can be changed to the appropriate birthstone (by choosing the birth month in the menu) individually. You will also have the options of deciding how many stones to show on the ring… between one and five.
The Davarriale Necklace is a fully sculpted, winged dagger dedicated to a very special friend of mine, Damon Varriale. Originally, it was only meant to be a male piece… but it was such a hit on Flickr, that I decided to fit it for a female neck as well. Both versions are available in the same box at the Jewelry Expo.
The Red Queen is a set dedicated to my beloved Codebastard Redgrave, one of my best friends and queen of the legendary bootay. While the set boasts the typical necklace, earrings and ring… it also includes a very special homage to my good friend and her most beautiful ASSet… a “rear tiara” (come on,… I can’t very well say “ass crown” can I?). :P
In all my attempts at creating jewelry (along with the Davarriale necklace mentioned above), I’ve been trying to branch out further into the “male jewelry” aspect of things. Guys are hard to design for! But the Poseidon Nautical set, dedicated to my good friend Stephen Venkman, was my attempt at a slight Victorian-esque piece of jewelry for the boys.
And now for the fun stuff…
This Princesse de la Mer set is a one-of-a-kind work of art, made exclusively for the 2008 Second Life(TM) Jewelry Exposition auction. It boasts a lovely combination of delicate platinum, decorative diamonds, and soft Tahitian pearls. Check out a picture of the crown being worn (by yours truly) here.
And last, but certainly not least… a few general expo goodies. Bailey’s Pearl Earrings are a fast favorite among all of my friends so far, scripted to texture change between gold and silver. The set of earrings includes 10 pairs of earrings (5 pairs of drop earrings, 5 pairs of stud earrings), each with five pearl options: white, black, cultured, onyx and wooden. Kylei’s Stud Earrings are a classic version of the ever popular gemstone studs. These earrings are scripted for gold/silver texture change as well as six different gemstone choices, all from a single menu. The the Jewelry Expo freebie… who could forget! Is a Classic Cocktail Ring, also scripted for gold/silver texture change and six gemstone choices.
There are a few other goodies as well, but… I can’t give away the farm, now can I?! And don’t forget, you will also be able to find a set of jewelry in the Jewelry Expo treasure hunt: The Natalya Set.

A Trip to Starlust Motel
I’ve been reading up on the feed that Starlust Motel (SLURL) is having it’s 24 hour Pantie Party starting at 6PM tonight. Having never been to the motel itself, I figured I’d take a trip and see what all the hubub was about. Oh. My. God. It was such a fun trip, and I’ll tell you why. (Click the photo below for a larger image!)
I’ve never walked away with so much fun stuff before. LOL! I was honest to god giggling the entire time I was roaming the sims with my little Kylei.
Aside from the StarLust Motel ‘Eat Me’ freebie which greets you at the door (the cheeseburger avatar… omg), there are also TONS of freebies around the hotel shops themselves including a dress from Amplify, DOZENS of poses from LAP, several freebies inside the hotel lobby, a treat bag from SD Wears, a pair of freebie shades from Vintage Wear, a box full of yumminess from Schadenfreude!, a cute handbag from MimiEden, a several dollarbies at Twosome, and probably a ton of other things I’ve yet to find. Now, I have absolutely no idea just how many of these freebies are exclusive to Starlust, so I’d suggest just heading there and trolling the two sims for all the freebies you can find. Oh, and grab some of the awesome shit for sale too!
Basically, I always have so much fun raiding these places. You never know what shops you’ll run across that you’ve never heard of before, or what shops you’ve heard of that have all this wacky stuff in these themed malls. And to make this trip even MORE fun, there’s actually a hunt going on in honor of the pantie raid, as it’s been dubbed… the golden clam hunt! The hunt covers both sims, Lloyd and Floyd, and you’re essentially searching for tiny golden clams… that are just waiting for you to scoop up the free underpants inside! Be aware… these clams are tiny. But well worth the effort to find, I’m sure of it.

Please join us Tomorrow (Aug. 11th) at the Motel for a wee party celebrating all that is underpant. Starting around 6pm SL DJ Jhuzen Ketsugo will be um… spinning the phat beats? Yeah? I’m pretty sure that’s what they’re called. Even if they’re not phat, they’ll be good sized and really confident with themselves so do come.
Also there’s a 5 day hunt with almost an uncountable amount of clams holding underpants from almost an uncountable amount of vendors going on. The hunt covers both sims of Floyd and there are underpants for men as well as women. Sexy and casual, fun and then some very serious ones. I do think you’ll have a good time!
I plan to be on the hunt for panties, as well as more kooky stuff!!! How about you? Be there or be square!
PS: Oh! I should probably mention that the golden clam hunt has items for both MEN AND WOMEN!!! So drag your man with you. Come on, boys. You know you like to hunt just as much as we do. :P
