According to the Second Life Insider, there is currently a photo contest going on over at Dykemare on Elm Street (slurl). Now, how that name came into existence, I will never know, BUT…. photo contest, right? Here are the details:

Photos must be taken within ELITE’s haunted grounds at VIP (Note: I actually have no idea what “within ELITE’s haunted grounds at VIP” means, so if YOU do, please explain).

To submit your entry, clearly label your full mod/copy/trans snapshots (”Your full avatar name - Photo Contest”) and drop them on Fatty Cardiff by Sunday, October 31st at 11pm SLT. One entry per person.

Grand Prize: $L3,500
Second Place: $L1,000
Third Place: $L500

Winners will be announced on December 1st.

Yay! More places to explore. More beauty to behold. More lindens to be won!!! More more more!!! Run, enjoy, live, love, wonderfulfantabulousness!

This page, you’ll find, is probably going to be your most favorite ever. At least, I hope. Hey, I can dream, right?

The new tutorial page is an accumulation of the Photoshop tutorial videos I’ve managed to complete while engaging in the land of Second Life photograph touch-ups. I figure, if there’s something I don’t know how to do — then there’s likely someone else who doesn’t know how to do it. And believe me, there’s PLENTY I don’t know how to do. So when I figure something out… I want to share. This is my way of doing that.

Don’t worry. I’ll add more as I make them. Hopefully someone, somewhere will find these useful! Enjoy.

WOO!!! It’s been a hell of a weekend, you guys! Here’s a video of about 40 pictures from a few of the parties I managed to catch this fabulous holiday season. Some of you I saw there, some of you I didn’t… but a great time was had by all! Always a pleasure to spend time with my Flickr family! :) God, how many costumes did I go through… I was Cleopatra, Miss Salt Water Taffy (naughty sailor girl, baby!), an apparent latex catsuit lover, Rainbow Brite, and there was a bit there when I walked around in my favorite holy black under-roos (my lovely torn panties :P)… I think I exhausted my costume supply. LOL!

Check out the video here!

PS: This shot up here is of me and Pier at Taylor’s party… apparently, we were the latex twins. Or somethin’. LOL Woo! I sleep now. *snore*

Woo hoo! Another modeling contest, ladies… pull out your stilettos and shine up those pearly whites!

I subscribe to exactly 102 Second Life related blogs. It’s true. I do. And I add more every day. Isn’t that sick? I just had to get that out there.

Anyhoo! Given the fact that I AM such an obsessive reader, I am privy to the following fantastical information…

The lovely Aleri Darkes over at Diversity Hair is having a big 50% off all Natural Hair color packs in the store (excluding clearance items, of course). The sale, once again, ONLY APPLIES to NATURAL HAIR packs. While unfortunate that it’s only that one pack, hey… it’s only $150L, ya dig? And they sell my color (black), so rockin’! The natural packs come in six colors: seaside sand, eclipse, cranberry, java, honey suckle, and hot chocolate. I’m sure most everyone (unless you REALLY REALLY like your colored tips) will be satisfied by at least one color in this lovely pack, so I fully encourage you to drop by (SLURL) and get ta shoppin’! This includes you, too, boys… Aleri sells both male and female hairstyles! The sale will last until midnight on October 31st.

In addition to this fantabulorastic sale, Ms. Darkes has also released three brand spankin’ new hairstyles — my personal favorite of which is the lovely Jacqueline II. The curls are delicate, the flow is spectacular, and I absolutely adore the way it frames my ever-so-lovely face. I’m sure it will frame yours just beautifully as well, so consider this my official endorsement. It’s beautiful. Really!

~runs off to shop!~

I can’t even imagine the overwhelming flood of Ruths that will show up after this show airs tonight. But man, I gotta tell ya… I’m super excited about this for some reason!

CSI: NY will be featuring Second Life in tonight’s episode. During the episode, Mac (Gary Sinise) goes into SL to catch a murderer. Following the show, SL residents will be able to participate in “Murder by Zuiker”, a crime-solving game associated with the show in SL, complete with virtual prizes for winners.

Want more? Read the full story on TechCrunch and/or watch a preview video on YouTube.

In addition to all of this craziness (oh my god, why am I so excited?), CBS will also be debuting a new viewer for SL created by the Electric Sheep Company called the OnRez Viewer.

Culled from Electric Sheep:

“OnRez is the first viewer to be commercially licensed by Linden Labs. The user interface resembles familiar web browsers and is focused on bringing the web and virtual worlds closer together. It also combines Second Life features, such as teleporting, with sophisticated OnRez services for virtual shopping and searching. IN addition to an easy-to-use user interface, the OnRez viewer also features the ability for users to more effectively browse the Web within the Second Life environment.”

CSI: NY fans will be able to register for the “CSI: NY Virtual Experience” on CBS.com. Users will receive a customized version of the viewer in addition to a customized toolbar to follow a mystery killer on the show through a series of interactive experiences in Second Life! Also, check out the SLURL to the CBS virtual crime scene. Dude, I’m SO WISHING I was home right now!!!

Dude. Again… may I reiterate… that I am SO freaking excited? And I know I’m probably WAYYYY hyping it up in my head, but … anyone up for a little murder mystery tonight? Mwahahahaha!

(By the way, this whole post has been culled from bits and pieces of TechCrunch, ElectricSheep, and CBS news! — damn do I read too much).

Deja Vu magazine is hosting a modeling contest in order to find the model that will appear on the front of their February 2008 magazine issue (PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong)! Application deadline is November 4th and voting will begin November 7th, so get those entries in!

Apparently, all that is required is to first join the group Deja Vu International in Second Life. Should be easy enough, right? Good. Next, go to the Deja Vu website (ouch, by the way) and fill out the entry form on the contest registration page. Once you’re done doing that, you will need to email two photos to group@dejavu-intl.com. Photo requirements are very specific (they must be 1200 px w by 1600 px h), so be sure to adhere to the resolution requirements. All that is necessary is a face shot and a full body shot.

Normally, I take pretty much all modeling contests in stride. In the end, they inevitably end up being popularity contests. However, I really had no qualms about entering this contest, simply because if I actually WERE to win… the grand prize is EXCELLENT.

Grand prize includes the following:

  • An EIGHT PAGE editorial in the magazine (whoa, wtf!)
  • A modeling contract with L’Homme Femme
  • Minnu Model Skins (I have no idea how MANY you’ll get, but hey… I love these skins *mental note to write a raving review*)
  • A JCNY tiara
  • $10,000 L (say it with me - shopping is crack)
  • Mimikri Kit Modeling Clothing

Now, I COULD be wrong on some of the above grand prize info… the website is a little bit hard to read. But… All I had to see was “Minnu Model Skins” and “$10,000 L”. I’m ALL over that.

Girls. It’s time. If you haven’t entered yet… go, speed racer, go!

It was those words that inspired this original release, “Enlightenment”, this afternoon:

A little about this shot…

In all honesty, I am still in complete and utter awe at just how much this picture has come to mean to me. It’s amazing how three little worlds can inspire so much emotion, so much feeling, so much intensity and so much VISION… that the image that’s swirling in your head just needs to come out and be ALIVE. That’s what I felt while I was making this. It took about two and a half days, and a lot of care and attention to detail, but my GOD, where it’s ended up is better than I could ever have imagined it in my head.

A little about the lotus flower…

The anomaly of the lotus flower is a powerful symbol in Buddhist religion. The flower stands tall and unpolluted in muddy waters. It germinates in the darkness below, emerges above the water, and blossoms into a beautiful flower in bright sunlight. Buddhists use the symbol to refer to the complete purification of the body, soul, and mind even as the roots remain firm in the ground. (read more)

*looks again and sighs in satisfaction*

It’s not even pride I’m feeling right now. It’s utter contentment for the emotion I see before me. The life that pours out to me from this picture, knowing that it came from my heart and soul. It’s such a rare treat to truly see the visions in your head come to life… and this has truly been a vision, a revelation, an enlightenment…

And I am so happy to share it with you.

PS: For those of you that were disappointed by my very first blog post… there actually *are* boobies in this one. LOL!

Second Life’s ASpiRE! Magazine will be hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Ball on Sunday, October 28th, from 2:00 PM SLT to 4:00 PM SLT.

As someone who’s life has been affected by the tragedy that is cancer (I do not have it personally, but have lost a close family member from it), I am actually really looking forward to this. It always makes me so happy when Second Life residents make an attempt at raising awareness to real life issues. I mean, of course there’s Relay for Life headed up by the American Cancer Society, and I fully support that, and everyone knows what RFL is. But how often do you see individual residents/resident-run-organizations make an attempt at raising awareness?

Love their hearts, I do.

A little more on the event as posted on the ASpiRE! website:

“Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, ASpiRE! would like to invite you the ASpiRE! Pink Charity Ball! This important event will take place Sunday, October 28th from 2pm SL to 4pm SL on ASpiRE! Isle. We will have music (donated by DJ Nexeus), dancing, and contests. Please come dressed in formal pink attire. There will be a Pretty in Pink competition!! Throughout the event, you will have an opportunity to donate Lindens. All proceeds will go directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.”

I will most definitely be there, in between the two Halloween parties I have to go to that day. What better way to take a break from all the partying then to go to ANOTHER party that, even in some small way, makes a difference? I fully encourage everyone to join me, and I look forward to seeing you all there!
